Runners pay a small fee of R350 to cover the costs of the water points and they pay their own transport, food and accommodation costs.
The weekend is both a long training run and a get-together, and is exclusively for runners I coach and their families. The venue is a trout farm outside Dullstroom which has a range of accommodation. Runners do the tough and hilly 50km run on the Saturday morning with fully-stocked water points provided. In the evening we have a get-together social function and fund-raiser for WAR (Women Against Rape), and last year we raised R8000. This money was used to paint rooms in a safe house for abused women.
