Annual 50km Dullstroom training camp was tough, but fun

Three runners, two men and one woman, run on a paved road with a yellow dividing line. They are wearing athletic clothing and sunglasses. Lush green trees line both sides of the road. A glimpse of water and the opposite bank are visible in the distance under a clear sky. A speed limit sign is visible on the left.

Our 2020 annual high altitude Dullstroom training camp for my runners  on March 14, was loads of fun, with a tough 50km run on a hilly, but scenic route with over 1000m of vertical altitude gain.  The route was a mixture of dirt farm roads and quiet tar roads. Once again we used the Elandskloof Trout Farm as the venue for the weekend, which is a great place for families to relax and unwind.

Fully stocked water points were provided, with energy drinks sponsored by Terra Race.  This is a great new product and we were fortunate to test it before the product appears on the market. Runners loved it, so watch out for this product soon!

This was followed by a get-together function for my runners and their families in the evening. We also raised R8 560 for WAR (Women Against Rape) with a raffle. The two main prizes were each a week at a holiday home in Uvongo, each prize being worth R10 000. The lucky winners were Tracey Ueckermann and Jolande van Rensburg.  These magnificent prizes were sponsored by one of my runners, Retha Schutte and her boyfriend, Stephen Gray, and their generosity is really appreciated!
