Runners open their hearts to underprivileged children

The annual Christmas party for underprivileged kids from the Izanokhanyo Community Based programme in Soweto, that my Coach Neville group supports, was held yesterday and was once again a great success.
It is a children’s home in the Kliptown squatter camp, in Soweto, which takes care of children, many of them orphans.  The children’s home provides Day Care and After Care, daily meals, psycho-social support, homework assistance, drama and dance clubs, clinic referrals, access to birth certificates and family assistance with SASA grants.

Many thanks to the support and the donations from our group that helped to make this possible.

Companies such as Clover, Pick and Pay, EOH & SAP, Bidvest Lithotech, Tip Top Meats, Polar Ice, CCJ and  Thompson’s Security also contributed greatly to make this day happen.

A special word of thanks to Karen Israel, Bronwynne Wiehl, Michelle Koedooder, Melanie Nijland and Jessica Maitland  from my training group, who did so much to make sure it was a success.  Without them this would not have happened. You guys really are special people!

The centre operates off small donations and support from the local community and it is a project that I adopted for my running group last year.  For my information or to donate click on the Izanokhanyo Community Project on my home page.
Merry Christmas!
